January So Far (and Why I’ve Started Writing Again)

We’re only 12 days into January, and somehow a lot has already happened.
Both six-week strength blocks are now full - with a waiting list - which honestly still blows my mind. We launched the Couch to 5K run group and had over 35 people turn up to the very first session, and because of that we’ve already added an extra group. Watching so many people show up for themselves, many of them feeling nervous but giving it a go anyway, has been pretty special.
Alongside that, I’ve already run 18 personal training sessions with a mix of new and existing clients. I’m genuinely grateful to every single person who trusts me enough to let me hold space while they take time for themselves - whether that’s building strength, rebuilding confidence, or just having somewhere that feels safe and supportive to move.
Behind the scenes, January has also involved multiple fights with apps (Spond… I am looking directly at you), a lot of problem-solving, and more hours than I care to admit trying to streamline systems so things feel easier, clearer, and more accessible for everyone. Not glamorous, but very necessary.
As many of you know, I’m autistic - and I’ve been wanting a space where I can properly info-dump, explain things, and write without squeezing everything into a caption or a carousel. Social media is great, but it doesn’t always leave room for nuance, context, or the why behind what I do.
So this blog is that space.
If what I write about is something you’re interested in, I hope you find it useful, reassuring, or maybe just interesting to read. This will (hopefully) become a place where I can share ideas, information, and explain things in a way that feels calm, honest, and accessible.
Some of the topics I’m itching to get down include:
Running and Jeffing (and why it works so well for so many people)
Strength training for real life — not aesthetics
Women’s health and perimenopause
Neurodivergent-friendly fitness
Mindset, confidence, and doing things differently
Bits of behind-the-scenes life at Outside the Box
I’ll also share favourite running routes, bits of kit I genuinely love, and little things that help me - because sometimes it’s the small, practical stuff that makes the biggest difference.
There’s no rigid schedule and no pressure here. Just a space to write, reflect, and share as Outside the Box continues to grow.
If you’re reading this - thank you for being here.
